When I designed the Stretcher Saddle, I tailored it to fit Dutton-Lainson “Goldenrod” fence stretchers. They are high quality, last for many years, and have spring kits available. They are definitely the brand of stretcher I recommend.

We have tested other brands in the Stretcher saddle. The cheapest brand from overseas will fit “sometimes”. The manufacturing of the ratchet bar is not consistent. I tested a stretcher that would engage our pins in one place, but slide it down to a different position and it would not fit. A simple solution, run a drill bit through the pin holes on the Stretcher Saddle, increasing diameter slowly. This will provide the clearance needed.
